Mix and Match

Fun Friday this week:  Playing the matching game.

I like giving my students who color coordinate things a hard time.  I think it’s out of admiration.  I can hardly figure out what I’m going to wear on any given day, but to be organized enough to not only wear a nice outfit of complimentary colored shirt and breeches but then to match some portion of that outfit with the color of the saddle pad you plan to use is just beyond my reach.   The level of planning is just impressive.

The best I can do in the saddle pad category is to say “here’s one that’s not too dirty.”  Color?  I don’t even get that far.  Besides, my colors are either black or white.  Yet, I have seen students (both teens and adults) come in with red shirt and red saddle pad.  A striking royal blue vest paired up with a grey shirt, and then the horse is in the same royal blue saddle pad and it’s trimmed in grey. Yellow, purple, you name it.   Yesterday I grabbed the picture here to the right.  Pink pad and pink shirt… yet how many shades of pink are there?  A lot for sure.  How is it that Madison managed to find the same shade?

While I give these riders a hard time, I do find it so attractive.  Its really nice to see.  Add with that some super riding and that picture just can’t be beat.
